July 2013: Cleaning the House, July 8, 2013

It wasn't much, but it was a busy day today.  My phone rang more times today than it probably did in the entire month of July.  Weird.  I also made a trip to a friend's house.  She's getting rid of the landscaping rocks from her front garden, and I'd like to put landscaping rocks in my garage garden, so I'm shoveling the rock out of her garden and moving them to my house.  It's a lot of work (she's seven months pregnant, so clearly she's not doing the work.  I'm sure her husband would help, but he works long hours and I usually work on it during the day).  So, at any rate, I decided to clean up the area in front of my chair.  The big problem was that I had two external hard drives and all their cords--but only one of them worked.  I straightened things out so only the working hard drive (and its cords) are there.

Before, blurry (I should check these out before continuing on, shouldn't I?):

It's a mess.  You don't even want to know how much random stuff is under the red blanket there.  That red blanket is sorta the slipcover for this chair, when company comes over.  It's less necessary now that I fixed the cushion, but I can wash that, and it can reduce the amount of cat hair involved when company comes--on the rare occasion that they do.  Most people aren't quite ready for a small house with four cats and the cat hair they produce (three are long hair, and ones a prolific shedding short hair).

Anyway, much of the stuff is cleared out from in front of the chair, which is a good thing indeed.  Someday I need to work on my entryway, including that bookshelf you can see off to the left.
And I need to vacuum.  (The papers still on the floor are for my contract work, which I do use, so they need to be available.)  It's not clean, but it's looking better, and progress is what I'm looking for.
