July 2013: Cleaning the House, July 7, 2013

I ended up sleeping most of the day away (besides church), so when the evening came, I had to do the work I procrastinated doing, which meant I was pretty tired.  If I hadn't made this goal, and if I hadn't created this blog to hold myself accountable, then I probably would've skipped it.  But this evening at church the minister said something along the lines of it having been a long while since they'd been to my house, so I guess I should definitely work on cleaning.  There's a reason I haven't posted pictures of my living room, although I know the day will come.  But here's one corner of the living room, the cedar chest.
Yep, stuff just got piled on there.  Until I can get some bookshelves above the cedar chest, I have little choice but to pile books on top of it.  But all of this stuff meant that I couldn't get my wool blanket into the cedar chest.  My wool blanket has been off my bed and on my sewing room table for months now, which means I couldn't get in there to sew.  Something had to be done.

You can't see the wool blanket in the cedar chest, but rest assured it's now safely in there, ready for me to pull out again in a couple of months to keep me warm in the winter.  I also cleaned up a little of the floor area around the cedar chest, but you can't really see it in the pictures.  It was just a bunch of papers, and a couple of things got thrown in the wash.  In cleaning this, I discovered I own even more fuzzy socks.  My fuzzy sock bin in my dresser is full, but now I have two more pairs that I need to fit in there.  It's not going to happen.  I'll have to figure out some alternate solutions (for example, wool, angora, and fuzzy socks may have to be separated, rather than being a bin of warm socks).  But fortunately, that's a problem for another day, since the socks need to be washed first.
